Citrus was booming in North Central Florida until a series of frosts severely hurt orange crops. By 1894 production had reached 5 million boxes, twice as much as California, but the freeze of '94Ñ'95 reduced production to 150,000 boxes. The industry moved further south, but did not recover to the prefreeze level of production until 1910.
